Ahwatukee Vocal Groups
Explode in many colors of music through singing by joining our Ahwatukee Singing Club! Combine some of your favorites with the classics and contemporary repertoire, then add a little inspiration and you will find the “world is your stage”! We practice both reading music and singing by ear, harmony, and solfeggio (do, re, mi) with hand motions. Periodically, there are opportunities for solo and ensemble performances emphasizing etiquette and confidence.

2. Cd’s or downloads (for rehearsal) (if we burn CD $1.00)


“Makin’ Music”
A great Introduction to music!
Description:
An overview of musicality using vocal, guitar, drums, percussion and a variety of keyboard
instruments. The art of music by ear combined with basic reading skills is presented in a
very fast-paced, energetic and inter-active hands-on lesson. Periodically, there are
opportunities for solo and ensemble performance, etiquette, and confidence.
Supplies/Instruments:
1. Music books (purchase)
2. Chicken eggs
3. Keyboard, guitar, drum pads or other percussion instruments provided in class, recommended at home but not required.


Saxophone, Violin, Clarinet
Description:
Enjoy learning the technique, intonation, tuning of the instrument as well as choosing repertoire to learn reading music and/or playing by ear.

Drums and Percussion
Description:
Learn full trap set as well as congo, bongo, djembe and other percussion instruments. Emphasis played on reading and playing rhythms as well as playing by ear. (Students are encouraged to bring music recordings they enjoy.)


“Guitar” and “Bass”
Description:
An overview of guitar; names of strings, playing easy chords and melodies. Also features how to “jam” in a band setting, create your own music and read music.
Periodically, there are opportunities for solo and ensemble performance, etiquette, and confidence.

1. Must bring guitar or bass to class and have at home for daily practice.

“Keys, Keyboards and Chords”
Description:
An overview of keyboard instruments such as accordion, piano keyboard, organ and mallet instruments. Treble and Bass clef reading, Chord recognition and playing, how to play by ear as well as creating your own music and arrangements. Periodically, there are opportunities for solo and ensemble performance, etiquette, and confidence.

2. Keyboard or Piano (Pianos provided in class but, required at home for daily practice)
